Attaching files
Send documents, spreadsheets, and images to your assistant, and know what happens to them.
Much of your assistant’s best work starts from your files: a contract to review, a spreadsheet to analyze, a deck to rework. You can attach files to any message.
What you can attach
| Type | Formats |
|---|---|
| Documents | PDF, Word (.docx), text (.txt) |
| Spreadsheets | Excel (.xlsx), CSV |
| Images | PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP |
Each file can be up to 25 MB. You can attach several files to one message.
How to attach
- From the composer — use the attach button and pick files from your computer.
- Drag and drop — drag files anywhere onto the conversation; a drop overlay appears while you’re dragging.
Each attachment shows as a chip above the composer with its upload progress. If an upload fails, retry it from the chip, or remove it before sending.
What your assistant does with them
Your assistant reads attachments in the context of your request — it can summarize, extract, compare, analyze, and transform them. When the work produces new files, those are saved to the conversation’s working folder in Drive, where you get version history, sharing, and search.
