Introduction

Workspaces

How workspaces organize your team's work, and how to create and switch between them.

A workspace is the shared space where your team works with Tyms. It holds your files, conversations, installed apps, and settings. Your first workspace is created automatically when you sign up, named after your company.

What lives in a workspace

  • Drive — the workspace’s file system, with personal and team folders, version history, and trash.
  • Conversations — your chats with your assistant. Conversations belong to you, inside the workspace you had them in.
  • Teammates — the people invited to the workspace, each with their own assistant.
  • Apps and settings — the apps, branding, and configuration your admins have set up.

When to create another workspace

Most teams only need one workspace. Consider a second workspace when you want a clean separation — for example, a separate business unit, a subsidiary, or a sandbox that’s kept apart from day-to-day work.

To create one, open the workspace switcher in the sidebar and choose Create workspace.

Switching workspaces

If you belong to more than one workspace:

  • Use the workspace switcher in the sidebar to move between them.
  • When you sign in, Tyms asks you to pick a workspace if it can’t tell which one you want.

Your Drive, conversations, and notifications always reflect the workspace you’re currently in.

Who can access a workspace

Workspace access is controlled by admins. When an admin invites a teammate, they choose which workspaces that person can access, and they can adjust access later from Admin → Teammates.
