Data Intelligence quickstart
Connect your first data source, give it some context, and ask it a question from Claude or ChatGPT.
In about 15 minutes you’ll have your first data source connected, and you’ll get an answer about your business from Claude or ChatGPT, with the query behind it.
You need:
- Data Intelligence switched on for your workspace.
- To be an org admin, to add the connection.
- A CSV file, or a PostgreSQL or MySQL database with a read-only user.
- Claude, or a paid ChatGPT plan.
- Open the workbench. In the admin area, open Products and choose Open workbench on Data Intelligence.
- Add a source. Open Connections. The fastest start is Add files: choose Create and upload files and drop in CSV files, up to 100 MB each. For a database, choose Add public database or Add private database and give it a read-only user. Data Intelligence checks that the user really is read-only before it connects.
- Add some context. Open Context. Under Glossary, choose Add term and explain one thing your team says often, such as "active customer". Assistants read this before they query.
- Connect your assistant. Copy your workspace’s address,
https://<your-workspace>.data.tyms.ai/mcp, and add it as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT. Sign in with your Tyms account. - Ask. Ask the question your team asks every week, in plain words.
Which ten customers spent the most last quarter, and how does that compare with the quarter before?
- Read the glossary and table notes
- Ran a read-only query on the invoices table
- Compared the two quarters
The top ten spent $412,000, up 9%. Two are new to the list. Here’s the table, with the query that produced it.
Keep the good answers
Write SQL yourself in the Workbench, or ask your assistant to save its work: Reports hold live query, table and chart blocks you can Publish and share.
